In 2016, Lura’s husband Rick suggested that she give CrossFit a try. She had recently completed a Half marathon and thought CrossFit WODs (workout of the day) would be “too short”. After an 8 min AMRAP (As Many Rounds/Reps As Possible in 8 minutes) that included burpees, kettlebell swings, and wall balls that left her lying on the floor, she soon realized that getting in shape did not require long lower intensity workouts. CrossFit was the way to work harder and smarter!
As a career competitive cheerleading coach for the University of Maryland and Baltimore Ravens, Lura felt at home at Blue Crab CrossFit. She loves the team spirit that you find in the gym and enjoys the inclusiveness that is felt among the athletes. She also loves the scalability of the workouts and watching beginners safely complete the same workouts as those with more advanced skills.
Lura strives to make coming to Blue Crab CrossFit the best hour of your day. As a certified life coach, Lura enjoys trying to bring out the best in everyone. She finds satisfaction in helping people challenge themselves in order to reach their goals. Lura dislikes the negative body images that are thrust upon us through the media. She wants YOU to become the best YOU that you can be.
