Year-End Winner
One entry if 11 of 12 months on the list
One entry if 200+ check-ins
Why do we have a Committed Club?
Unlike big box gyms who have a business model of pay for a membership but don’t encourage attending, Blue Crab CrossFit WANTS you to USE YOUR MEMBERSHIP! The more consistently you attend group classes, the better you feel and the more results you’ll see. Our mission is to help you live a stronger, healthier life and in order to do that, you must attend class 3+/week. Our committed club highlights members who made it to the gym 15+ times in a month.
Haven’t made the list? Make that your January 2024 goal to kick off the new year building good habits!
January Athlete of the Month
Arianna R.
Congratulations to our first Athlete of the Month in 2024 - Arianna!
We’re so proud of Arianna for embracing the challenge and working on her consistency at the gym, which has PAID OFF for her by evidence of the huge gains she’s made in a short time. From lifting more than she thought possible for herself to making it to the top of the high rope, to getting pull ups, she’s been CRUSHING IT and we cannot wait to see what 2024 brings for her!
Congratulations on a well-deserved nomination!
Tell us your story - where did you grow up and what kind of activities did you do growing up?
Growing up in Virginia, I was never a super active kid beyond wandering in the woods and riding bikes. I played soccer in highschool but it was purely a social club that I never took seriously. In college, I started running to fight off the freshman fifteen and I have stuck with it pretty consistently without any real training plan or goals.
Tell us how you were first introduced to CrossFit? How long have you been doing CrossFit - any thoughts/comments on how it’s changed or influenced your life?
I started CrossFit in May 2023 after being invited numerous times from some BlueCrab members. I was in a bit of a rut and was bored with running, so decided to give it a try. I was very intimidated by lifting weights and doing something beyond cardio. Lifting weights is still intimidating (especially overhead) but every class I get more comfortable. In the short amount of time I’ve been going to BCCF, I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot of things I thought I could never do like rope climbs or pull ups. I get super geeked out every time now and it hypes me up to come back and do something new. It helps that all the coaches and members are all very supportive and willing to answer my newbie questions.
What goals do you have within the next year - CrossFit and non-CrossFit?
CrossFit goals are to get those dang double unders and continue working on my confidence of picking up heavy things over my head. Non-CrossFit goals include completing some home renovation projects and making my way through my stack of unread books.
Talk to us about your life outside of the gym - hobbies, favorite meal, music, job etc. Any random facts you want us to know?
Outside the gym I still like to wander around the woods but call it hiking. I have a list of restaurants I’ve been eating my way through and I am always looking to add to it, especially French cuisine. I also spend way too much time rummaging at estate sales and thrift stores.
